Hi Diane, It is possible to have acquired infections some years previously and not be aware of there presence. However, generally, if you feel OK then you probably are OK. I would always recommend to anyone who has had a number of sexual partners, either current or in the past, to have a check up to make sure there is no lingering infection. Just routine.
