I'm not a woman within the age-range you request but work for an NHS trust within sexual health. I'm pleased with the aim of your article and wish you every success. We usually recommend consistent condom use for at least the first three months of a relationship. After that time, if a couple decide they want to stop using protection, we would strongly advise that BOTH attend a sexual health clinic for a full check-up, including an HIV test. If they are both clear then there should be no problems following unprotected sex so long as they can be sure that their partner is having no unprotected sex elsewhere. Good luck with the magazine piece. Rob
